Our experienced Allied Health Assistants can help you to achieve your health, wellness and rehabilitation goals, and are available for appointments at our Healthy Living Centres in Brisbane and Cairns.
Allied Health Assistants can support you with:
- Implementing treatment plans that have been prescribed by your Exercise Physiologist, Physiotherapist or Occupational Therapists, including using fitness equipment and completing exercise and treatment programs.
- Following up with you regarding how your treatment plan is going.
- Monitoring your rehabilitation progress and reporting back to your Exercise Physiologist, Physiotherapist or Occupational Therapists for further appointments when needed.
- Optimising your exercise or treatment programs ensuring correct form and technique is maintained to prevent injuries from occurring.
- Assisting with group classes and individual sessions when required.
- Providing ongoing therapeutic support throughout your rehabilitation journey.
When might I see an Allied Health Assistant?
You may be recommended to see an Allied Health Assistant if:
- You have an existing treatment or exercise plan developed by an Exercise Physiologist Physiotherapist or Occupational Therapist that can be implemented by an Allied Health Assistant.
- Your rehabilitation journey has progressed to a level that an Allied Health Assistant can monitor and conduct follow-up appointments with you, reporting back to your Exercise Physiologist, Physiotherapist or Occupational Therapist on a long-term basis.
- You require therapeutic support on a regular basis and would like assistance using fitness equipment, completing exercise programs and stretching.
- You are wanting to see an allied health professional more frequently.
- You are looking to implement an existing mobility and stretching program set by an Exercise Physiologist, Physiotherapist or Occupational Therapist.
Before your first appointment with an Allied Health Assistant, you must complete at least two sessions with either an Exercise Physiologist, Physiotherapist or Occupational Therapist. These sessions provide the Physiotherapist, Exercise Physiologist or Occupational Therapist time to assess and develop an individually tailored treatment plan that may be carried out by an Allied Health Assistant depending on treatment required.

What is an Allied Health Assistant?
An Allied Health Assistant supports our Exercise Physiologists, Physiotherapists or Occupational Therapist with ongoing treatments, mobility programs and general therapeutic support. Allied Health Assistants can assist you with long term wellbeing goals, improving mobility, preventing injuries and monitoring your rehabilitation progress.
Who can access Allied Health Assistant services?
An Exercise Physiologist, Physiotherapist or Occupational Therapist will determine if seeing an Allied Health Assistant will be beneficial for you, depending on their prescribed treatment plan. Before making an appointment to see an Allied Health Assistant, you must complete at least two sessions with either a Physiotherapist Exercise Physiologist or Occupational Therapist first. These sessions will provide the Physiotherapist, Exercise Physiologist or Occupational Therapist time to assess and develop a treatment plan and depending on the outcomes of the assessment the treatment plan that can be carried out by an Allied Health Assistant.

What does the service involve?
With the guidance of either an Exercise Physiologist, Physiotherapist or Occupational Therapist, Allied Health Assistants can support you with individual sessions, including implementing existing treatments and exercise programs, monitoring your progress and helping you access fitness equipment.
What funding bodies do our Allied Health Assistants work with?
We work with all funding bodies in Australia, including, NDIS, NIISQ, Aged Care providers, private health and insurance claims. If you don’t see your funding provider listed, please get in touch so we can work with you and discuss your options.
Do you only offer Allied Health Assistants to people with spinal cord damage?
Our Allied Health Assistants work with all types of disabilities and injuries, whether its neurological, musculoskeletal, acquired at birth or later in life, new or old injuries. Essentially, anyone who is experiencing any form of physical and functional limitations is to contact and book in with our Exercise Physiologist, Physiotherapist or Occupational Therapist who will then transition you to an Allied Health Assistant.
